“I serve on this committee because a good paying job that leads to income growth and career advancement is the best anti-poverty program.  Collaborating with these partner organizations makes our work more successful – for everyone.”

“I serve on the Greenville County Workforce Development Board (SC Works) because I believe every adult deserves access to meaningful career pathways and the support to achieve economic mobility. Career pathways are not a one-size-fits-all and there is no straight line to success. We have the opportunity to align education, workforce, and community partners so we can create real, lasting impact for individuals and our local economy.”

“I joined the SC Works Committee on the Greenville County Workforce Development Board to elevate the voices and needs of the families we serve in broader workforce initiatives. By contributing an affordable housing perspective, I hope to strengthen partnerships that remove barriers, create meaningful opportunities, and support long‑term economic mobility for low-income families in our community.”

“In Greenville County, Paving the way for economic mobility for those that need it most.”

Beverly James, MSLS, MPA

Executive Director
Greenville County Library System

“When the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) recognized
public libraries as potential partners for one-stop career centers years ago, a working relationship
between Greenville County Library System (GCLS) and the SC Work Center in Greenville County was
formed. Each GCLS location provides free computer access to individuals seeking to improve their digital
skills, find a job, apply for jobs, etc. GCLS locations also serve as Connection Points for the South
Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.”

Sandy White

Lecturer of Management

“I serve on this committee to give back to our community. I believe all human beings should have opportunities to better themselves and meet/exceed their personal and professional goals. Whether you are a two-year or four-year college, staying connected and visible in the community also helps working adults achieve their goals. Being intentional in volunteer work helps our communities thrive.”
